Date Ideas

My goal is not to give a list of “go on a picnic” and “talk about your hopes and dreams”, but a fully planned event. You will probably notice I like themes, it helps me to think outside the box.

Chase Field

  • Activity:  This one has two parts, because getting there is half the fun.  Get a pair of bikes and load them up on the light rail.  You can park at the park-and-ride anywhere along the path, it will cost $4 per person for an all-day pass.  Once on the light rail, ride until Washington/3rd Ave, where you will get off and ride to dinner.  After dinner ride back to the Chase Field, we went to a Diamondbacks game, tickets are as cheap as $10 a person.  Chase Field has a few bike racks around, so find some to lock up your bikes or I can almost guarantee they won’t be there when you leave the baseball game.
  • Dinner:  Thai Basil, located just a few miles from Chase Field is quick and delicious, it is a sit down restaurant, my favorite is the signature thai basil dish, it has just a touch of spice balanced by the sweet basil leaves.
  • Total Cost:

Hillbilly Date

  • Activity:  This one will take a good couple hours, so plan accordingly.  A true hillbilly date can’t happen without guns, we used my husbands shot gun and took some clay pigeons to shoot out by _________, this was a blast, no pun intended, but my shoulder killed the next day from launching clay pigeons all afternoon.  Once your arm can’t take anymore shooting, head on over to dinner, then to the true hillbilly event- dirt track racing!  There is a great Dirt track called _______, most weekend nights they have events, from amateur drag racing to mud bogging and our favorite- demolitian derby!  Check the website before you head over to see what events are scheduled- admission is $10 per person and you can bring your own lawn chair, blankets, and coolers.
  • Dinner: Allison’s BBQ
  • Total Cost:
